Captain reads “On Monday colored mobs looted and fought their way the length of Paradise valley, the Detroit Negro district, leaving a trail of destruction and death in their wake until armed troops took over. This block of stores and at Delma [...] and Westminster, with every front smashed, wasa typical scene. " While many African Americans were arrested for looting, whites who committed acts of arson through the burning of cars were not arrested in similar numbers
